Gary was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1934 and studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts, the Vancouver School of Art, the American Academy of Art in Chicago as well as in Spain and Italy.
He works in oil, tempera, sumi ink, coloured pencil and is well know for his figural portraits, floral still life and mandala shapes in a surrealistic style influenced by Zen and Green myths.
Gary Slipper has exhibited with the Montreal Museum of Fine Art plus other numerous juried exhibitions in Canada and the United States.
His work is in the Vancouver Art Gallery, the National Gallery of Canada, the Agnes Etherington Art Centre in Queen’s University, the Canada Council Art Bank, as well as in many other galleries and public and private collections across Canada and the United States.
